The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI)

A no frills index to Australian plant names. This index is only accessible by a search page.

Botanical Dermatology Database

An all text database with a search system. Learn about all those plants that can give you rash and make you itch.

The Encyclopedia of Plants

Provides information on growing a variety of different plants. Includes pictures of many species. This site can be browsed by common names or Latin names.

Hortiplex

Two databases, both searchable by common or Latin names. The first database can be used to find information and/or photos for a plant species. The second database is a nomenclatural database which is useful for researching Latin names.

Index Nominum Genericorum (ING)

Initiated in 1954 as a compilation of generic names published for all organisms covered by the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature. It is now online as a searchable database.

The International Plant Names Index

The most comprehensive index of its type. The index is query based and is an attempt to cover species (and higher taxonomic names) for the entire world. The author's name is given for each taxon and a literature citation for where it was published.

PLANTS National Database

Provides a single source of general information about the plant kingdom to researchers and other people interested in plants. Covers the plants of North America. Pictures for many plants are included.
