Have West African Black Rhinos Become Extinct?

Friday July 7, 2006
The African Rhino Specialist Group has announced that the West African black rhino may now be extinct.

This disappointing report came after an intensive survey of these animals, in which none of them were able to be found.

It is believed that poaching is the cause of this apparent extinction.

Members of the African Rhino Specialist Group now fear that the northern white rhino is destined to meet this same fate.
