Cast Your Vote

Dateline: 03/05/98

From time to time, I receive requests for articles and suggestions about future topics. Last week, I received an interesting suggestion for a "cast your vote" topic list. So this week-- drum roll please--here it is! I've compiled a list of seven potential topics for the coming weeks. Pick two that interest you most, and cast your vote!

To vote, post your top two choices to the Biology Forum or send e-mail to Regina. I'll compile the top choices. Number one will be the feature for next week, and number two the following week. Let the voting begin!

The New Violets
Researchers recently discovered two new species of violets. Read about their fascinating quest to name their discoveries.

The Two Cows
They're at it again. European researchers announced two genetically identical calves. Sounds like Dolly all over again.

It's Not the UV But the Diet
Recent studies have uncovered a link between diet and the prevalence of some forms of skin cancer.

New Vessels
Can recombinant protein therapy create new blood vessels to supply the human heart?

The "Paralysis" Gene
Researchers are on the cusp of finding the gene for a form of ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

The MRI into the Heart
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques applied after an initial heart attack could predict the likelihood of reoccurrence.

Stroke Transplants
Can transplanted neurons offer hope for those impaired by a stroke?

Remember to cast your vote either on the Biology Forum or by sending e-mail to Regina. 'Til next time...
