How Vampire Bats Identify Prey

Did you know that vampire bats rely solely on the blood of other animals for their nutrition?

That being said, it is important for vampire bats to be able to identify their food source.

In a study reported in BioMed Central Biology, scientists have discovered that vampire bats are able to recognize prey by their breathing.

The researchers believe that just as humans use voice to recognize each other, bats use breathing to recognize prey.
