Meiosis is the process of cell division that occurs in sex cells. It produces gametes with one half the number of chromosomes as the parent cell.

There are two stages of meiosis: meiosis I and meiosis II. Each one of these stages has several different phases.

These fascinating images of cells in the various stages of meiosis will help introduce you to the wonderful world of cellular meiosis. You will also find helpful diagrams and animations of cells in meiosis.
