What are Macromolecules?
Saturday September 1, 2007
Macromolecules are polymers. Polymers are large molecules of many similar "units" linked together. These individual units are called monomers.
When small organic molecules such as amino acids are joined together, giant molecules such as proteins are produced.
Examples of macromolecules include: carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids.
